GODLY PLAY SUNDAY SCHOOL

Our Sunday School uses a curriculum and methodology called Godly Play. Our Godly Play classroom environment and structure models church for our children and allows them to wonder about and experience God in a safe, welcoming, environment that fosters creativity, discovery, service, love and learning.

WHAT IS.....GODLY PLAY?

  • Godly Play is a Judeo Christian curriculum that is uses Montessori methodology, using a discovery model of learning. Godly Play acknowledges that children have a valid experience of God at a very young age, but can lack the language to talk about it and work with it.
  • Godly Play allows children to enter into religious language, work, worship and tradition.
  • Godly Play is centered around having a relationship with God. It helps guide children into a model of wondering, responding and experiencing God in an authentic and genuine way that comes from their heart, on their own and in community.
  • Godly Play fosters the process, the journey and embraces the creativity of the Holy Spirit.
  • Godly Play honors the diversity of the Kingdom of God and what that brings to our response to God's Word and Story.
  • Godly Play embraces silence and listening, as well as discussion and the variety of ways to respond to God's love and Word including prayer, music, art, service/stewardship, and the sharing/development of our spiritual gifts.
